Hcc Men Earn First Win

Mike Hankins scored 23 points to lead Harford Community College's men's basketball team to its first victory, 73-70, over Charles Community College on Dec. 7.

Sam Hanke grabbed a defensive rebound, was fouled and sank two free throws in the final seconds to preserve the Owls' lead.

"It was just a great team effort all the way around, and it sure was nice to win one before Christmas," said Coach Archie Skebeck.

Matt Dontell added 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Hanke added 16 points. The Owls (1-6) were perfect in 10 tries from the foul line.
