RILEY IN NAVAL DRILL

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Joseph P. Riley, son of Joseph P. RileyJr. of Darlington, recently participated in two multinational naval exercises aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal, homeported in Mayport, Fla .

Riley joined sailors from Italy, Spain, Britain, Greece and France for Operation Hammerlock and Display Determination, which displayed the nations' military readiness.

After completing the exercises, Riley participated in a scheduledport visit to Souda Bay on the island of Crete.

The 1976 graduateof Bel Air Senior High School joined the Navy in November 1987.

KADERA ENDS TRAINING

Navy Seaman recruit Brady S. Kadera, son of SteveC. and Mary T. Kadera of Abingdon, recently completed training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla.

During the training cycle, recruits are taught general military subjects designed to prepare themfor further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 occupational fields.

Studies include seamanship, close-order drill, naval history and first aid.

The 1991 graduate of Bel Air High School joined the Navy in September 1991.

Belden C. Tobin, son of James Tobin of Royal Oak and Burma Kitts of Edgewood, has joined the Army for four years.

Tobin is a 1983 graduate of AberdeenHigh School.

He will report to Fort Sill, Okla., for basic training in February, followed by advanced individual training in food service, at Fort Lee, Va.

Tobin will receive a $3,500 bonus for his enlistment.

CANNON SIGNS UP

Carl R. Cannon, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cannon, has enlisted in the Army for four years through the delayedentry program.

A 1991 graduate of Fallston High School, he will report to Fort Knox, Ky., for basic training in July 1992. Following basic training he is scheduled to report to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, to begin a new career field as a medical non-commissioned officer.

PRIVATE ENDS TRAINING

Pvt. Mark D. Wolferman Jr. has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

He is the son of Veronica A. and Mark D. Wolferman of Edgewood.

The soldier is a 1989 graduate of Joppatowne High School.

Tina L. Hamrick has been promoted in the Army to the rank of sergeant.

The soldier is a watercraft operator at Fort Eustis, Newport News, Va.

She is the daughter of Dorsey F. and Alice R. Hamrick of Street and a 1983 graduate of C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air.

EDWARDS ARRIVES FOR DUTY

Air Force Staff Sgt. Jerry B. Edwards, a radio operations supervisor, has arrived for duty at Hurlburt Field, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

He is the son of James B. and Eleanor O. Edwards of Bel Air.

His wife, Elizabeth, is the daughter of D. R. and Mary A. Harrell of Aberdeen.

The sergeant isa 1981 graduate of Bel Air High School.

Clark ends training

Pvt. Steven C. Clark has completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

The soldier is the son of Carol A. Baxter of Bel Air.

He is a 1991 graduate of BelAir High School.
