Chain Saw Scares Off Knife-toting Robber

A Severna Park Christmas tree vendor scared off a knife-wielding robber with a chain saw last week.

County police said the man was trimming a tree on his lot at the intersection of Route 2 and McKinsey Road at about 9:15 p.m. Dec. 11.

The robber, armed with a large knife, walked up behind him and demanded the man's money.

The man turned around revealing his chain saw, and said: "Do you want to go at it? Let's dance."

Police described the would-be thief as a black male about 19, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a dark colored windbreaker and tennis shoes.

The man did not report the attempted robbery to police until Tuesday because the robber did not get any money, but the vendor's boss told him to report it.


A 22-year-old Davidsonville man was charged with assault withintent to murder after police said he stabbed another man with a kitchen knife Thursday.

Investigators said Joseph Alonzo Wallace, 22,of the 1500 block of Governor's Bridge Road; George Kent Bushey, 34,of the 3300 block of Strawberry Run in Davidsonville, along with a third man, spent Wednesday drinking in Bushey's home.

Wallace askedBushey to drive him home, but he refused and they began arguing. A few minutes later, Bushey agreed to drive Wallace home. At Wallace's home, they continued to argue, and Bushey and the third man left Wallace's home.

About a half-hour later, Wallace went back to Bushey's home and stabbed him, police said.


County police seized two grams of cocaine from a man who was staying in a South County hotel room.

Detectives said they served asearch warrant at the room at about 12:30 a.m. Friday and found 2.6 grams of the drug and $490.

Leon Stanley Jones, 21, of the 900 block of East Royal Street in Annapolis, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine.


A32-year-old Brooklyn Park woman and a 28-year-old Baltimore man werecharged with possession of cocaine after police say they found the pair smoking a crack pipe in the woman's home Tuesday.

Deborah AnneLamar, of the 5900 block of Carefree Drive, and John Joseph Gunning III, of the 500 block of Arson Avenue, also were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Narcotics detectives served a search warrant at 8:30 p.m. on Lamar's home and found the pair smoking a homemade crack pipe, police said.

Officers seized several small plastic bags with cocaine residue on them, a scale and a .25-caliber handgun, police said.
