Knights Become Stars

MANCHESTER — The Knights of Columbus Council 9127 has earned the distinction of Star Council, the international organization's top award, for the 1990-1991 fraternal year.

The award recognizes overall excellence in membership recruitment and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program and sponsorship of service-oriented activities.

District Deputy Romeo Gauthier presented the award to the local council in a special ceremony Nov. 9.

The Knights of Columbus is a Roman Catholic, family, fraternal service organization with 1.5 million dues-paying members worldwide. In 1990, it gave more than 36.5 million volunteer service hours and donated more than $94 million to charitable and benevolent causes.
