Delegate Virginia Thomas (District 13-A) has applications available for the 1992 House of Delegates Scholarships.
Scholarships are awarded yearly to District 13-A students who attend or are planning to attend schools in Maryland. Applicants need to verify their district with the Board of Elections at 313-2727.
Applications must be postmarked by March 11.
Non-traditional students are also invited to apply.
Students who graduated high school or received a GED more than three years ago and delayed post-secondary education or interrupted their studies and are not currently attending college, should indicate this on the application.

SCHOOL CLOSING POLICY
On days of inclement weather, parents and students are asked to listen to local radio or television stations for information about changes in school schedules.
If it is necessary to close an individual county public school or all schools after the school day has begun, an announcementwill be made to the schools, and to radio and television stations.
If schools are closed, they will reopen the following day on the regular schedule unless announced otherwise.
On days when schools are closed for all or part of the day, all community and after-school programs are canceled.
SCHOOL CLOSING NOTICES
Howard Community College's weather-emergency closings will be aired on Baltimore and Washington television stations affiliated with the three major networks and on 11 area radio stations between 6 and 9 a.m.
When Howard County public schools are closed because of weather emergencies, the HCC classes conducted at those schools will be canceled.
If HCC classesare canceled any time after the college opens, an
nouncements will be made in the same manner.
A recorded message will also be played on the college's main telephone number, which is 992-4800.
The Howard County public school system is extending notification with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX ofthe Education Amendments of 1972, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that all programs, activities and opportunities are offered without regard to race, sex, color, national origin, or handicap.
