Robert H. Gunther

Robert H. Gunther, a retired supply officer at the Maryland Training School for Boys, died Saturday of cancer at St. Joseph Hospital. Services were being held today at the Calvary Tabernacle Church, 6008 Old Harford Road.

Mr. Gunther, who was 80, lived in Parkville.

He retired in 1974 after working at the school, now known as the Charles H. Hickey Jr. School, for much of the time since coming to the Baltimore area in 1962.

He also had worked here as an insurance adjuster, and earlier, while living in York, Pa., he had worked for the state of Pennsylvania.

After his retirement, he worked as a substitute teacher in elementary schools in Baltimore and in Baltimore County and also served as a volunteer for the Over 60 Employment Service.

During World War II, he served as an assistant field director for the Red Cross at Camp Perry, Va.

He is survived by his wife, the former M. Dolores Smon; a stepdaughter, Glenda S. Chop of Dublin, Ireland; and several cousins.
