Man fatally shot after argument

December 16, 1991

A 33-year-old Caroline County man was shot and killed Saturday evening after an argument at the home of an acquaintance, authorities said.

Mark Elder Batson, who lived on American Corner Road in Denton with his grandmother, was shot once in the chest with a .22-caliber rifle about 5 p.m. Saturday, state police said. Fred Jackson, 62, who lived about a mile away on the same road, was arrested a short time later and charged with first-degree murder. He was being held without bail in the Caroline County Detention Center last night.
