Tree Recycling Repeated

December 15, 1991

The county's Christmas tree recycling program has been so successfulthat the county is offering it for the third straight year.

Since1989, Harford residents have recycled 5,300 Christmas trees, which are then ground into mulch. The county has saved about 4,000 cubic yards of landfill space through the program.

Residents who drop their trees off to be recycled will receive a coupon for a free evergreen seedling and may obtain three bags of mulch, at no charge, from the county waste disposal center.

These collection sites will be open to receive trees on Dec. 28, Jan. 4, and Jan. 11:

* Scarboro Landfill, 3241 Scarboro Road, Street.

* Bel Air Public Works Department, 705 Churchville Road.

* County Highways Shop, 900 Pylesville Road (Maryland Route 165), in Jarrettsville.

* Festival Park, 30 Howard St. (Parks and Rec Building) in Aberdeen.

* Havre de Grace Public Works Department's equipment yard, 395-R Wilson St.

* Riverside Community Association, Old Bata Hotel, Route 40, Belcamp.
