Outlook: Something has to give in this battle of winless archrivals who are playing for the 141st time. The Mountaineers lead the series, 81-59, but Loyola won last season in this tournament, 72-60. Tracy Bergan is expected to start at the point for Loyola. Bergan and Kevin Green both made all-tourney last year, but newcomer Michael Reese leads the club with 21.3 ppg and 7.8 rpg. The Mountaineers have lost 9 straight since the final 6 games of last season.

Navy (1-2) at Pennsylvania (0-2)

Site: The Palestra, Philadelphia, 7

Radio: WNAV (1430 AM)

Outlook: This is the second straight road game for Navy, which lost in overtime at William & Mary on Saturday. F John Haase is leading the Midshipmen in scoring (16.0). C Nick Marusich is the leading rebounder and second-leading scorer (13.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg). Penn has lost at Virginia and Temple. Penn has a commanding 52-22 lead in the series. It won last year's meeting, 73-61.

Towson State (1-2) vs. UMBC (0-2)

Site: UMBC Fieldhouse, 8 p.m.

Radio: WITH (1230 AM), WTMD (89.7 FM), WERQ (1010 AM)

Outlook: The Tigers became the first team in the tournament with a victory, edging Lehigh, 99-97, at home Tuesday night on Chuck Lightening's jumper with 5 seconds left. They have won this event the past 2 years, after UMBC took it in the inagural year. Senior leader Devin Boyd is out of the lineup at least until mid-January with a fractured elbow, but freshman Terrance Alexander, the team's lone recruit, has averaged 16.3 points as his replacement. The Retrievers have rebounded well in their but have been hurt by turnovers. Newcomer Soni Nixon leads the team with 19.0 ppg and 13.5 rpg.
