Baltimore City

ROBBERIES: Western District -- Helene McNeil, of the 900 block of W. Lexington St., reported to police she was in the 200 block of Carlton St. Wednesday afternoon when she was stopped by two men, one armed with a handgun, who forced her to give up her money. Police said the men escaped with nearly $400 in cash. Later, Deborah Davis, of the 800 block of Carberry Lane, told police she also was in the 200 block of Carlton St. when she was robbed of nearly $300 in cash by two men, one armed with a handgun. Police believe both armed robberies were committed by the same men.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Bernard Mackle, of the 2000 block of Harlem Ave., reported he was attacked by two men as he walked in the 300 block of N. Pulaski St. Wednesday afternoon. During the assault, the men robbed Mackle of $40 in cash and escaped. Police said Mackle was not injured.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police reported that a man armed with a handgun accosted Lauren Brown, of the 1100 block of N. Calhoun St., as he walked in the 1200 block of N. Fremont Ave. and demanded his cash. Police said the gunman escaped with more than $300.

DRUG ARREST: Southwestern District -- Following a brief surveillance, police Wednesday arrested a man and charged him with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. According to Officer Allen Adkins, two men standing in the first block of S. Calverton Road were observed allegedly selling cocaine. Adkins said after one man took the money, another man would go to the front of a nearby store and remove a vial of cocaine from a window sill and give it to the customer. At a signal, police converged on the men. Adkins said the man holding the money escaped, but that the other person was arrested before he could flee. In the window sill, said Adkins, police found 12 vials of cocaine. Adkins said Phillip Maybin, 35, of the 2500 block of W. Pratt St., was charged and held in lieu of $5,000. He was remanded to the city's Detention Center, Adkins said. Adkins said the "money-man" is being sought.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Timeka Williams, of the 600 block of N. Calhoun St., reported she was in the 4000 block of Frederick Ave. when she was accosted by a man armed with a knife who ordered her to give up her money. Police said the man robbed Williams of more than $250 in cash and escaped.

THEFT: Southwestern District -- Rudolph Hooks, of the 400 block of Rosecroft Ave., told police that someone entered his home between Sunday and yesterday and stole property valued at more than $900. Hooks told police he suspects a person he knows of taking the property.

THEFT: Southwestern District -- Employees of the Atlantic air conditioning company in the 10200 block of Baltimore National Pike reported that someone broke into one of their trucks while it was parked in the 500 block of Hazlett Ave. and stole tools valued at nearly $600.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Marie Walker, of the 100 block of S. Culver St., told police she was walking in the 3400 block of Frederick Ave. when she was grabbed by a man who robbed her of cash and property, all valued at nearly $300.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Germaine Jackson, of the 1900 block of Presstman St., reported she was in the 2900 block of Mosher St. Wednesday afternoon when she was stopped by a man armed with a sawed-off shotgun who demanded her money. Police said Jackson turned over more than $100 in cash to the gunman, who escaped on foot.

THEFT: Southwestern District -- Kenneth James, of the 400 block of N. Hilton St., told police that while his car was parked in the 1100 block of Whistler Road someone broke into the vehicle and stole property valued at more than $1,000.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Alton Brooks, of the 700 block of N. Grantley St., told police he was in the 900 block of Kevin Road Wednesday evening when he was accosted by two men who robbed him of cash and property, all valued at nearly $100.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported that a woman was robbed of her purse while she was walking in the 1900 block of McHenry St. Lisa Hammonds, of the 2200 block of W. Pratt St., told police a man approached her from the rear and ripped the purse from her grasp. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $250.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 800 block of Reverdy Ave. reported that someone forced their way into her home and stole a 19-inch TV valued at $600. Police said the person gained entry by breaking out a pane of glass in a basement door.

BURGLARY/ARRESTS: Northern District -- Police responding to a burglary in progress in the 4600 block of Winslow Road arrested two men as they left the dwelling and attempted to escape. Police said a gym bag containing stereo equipment, clothing and other items was recovered from the men. Police said both suspects were being held at the station lock-up pending formal burglary charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.
