Ga. Tech defeats Villanova, 80-59 Syracuse routs Fla. State ACC--Big East

ATLANTA -- Freshmen Travis Best and James Forrest scored 19 points apiece, as No. 17 Georgia Tech overpowered Villanova, 80-59, last night.

The victory squared the Atlantic Coast Conference-Big East Challenge at two games apiece, coming in the nightcap of a doubleheader that saw the Big East's Syracuse rout Florida State, 89-71, earlier.

The Yellow Jackets (4-1) used runs of 18-2 and 14-2 in the first half on their way to a 46-33 lead at intermission.

The Wildcats (0-2) were never able to cut the lead to less than 10 points in the second half.
