Manhattan (1-2) at Loyola (0-3)

Site: Reitz Arena, 7:30

Outlook: The Greyhounds begin Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play after returning from a West Coast trip in which they lost all 3 games. They have been idle since Nov. 25. Two newcomers, F Michael Reese and F Brian Pendleton, have had an immediate impact on Loyola. Reese, who scored 34 against Pacific, is averaging 24 points and 7 rebounds. Pendleton is averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Loyola will be looking for improved shooting from G Tracy Bergan, G Kevin bTC Green and G Kevin Anderson. The Jaspers, who return 4 starters from last year's 13-15 team, are led by F Keith Bullock (21.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg). F Jake Davalli, a sophomore from Calvert Hall, is averaging 3.3 points and 11 minutes. Davalli scored 7 points in Manhattan's 72-61 loss to Pittsburgh in the preseason NIT.

Morgan State (0-4) at Brooklyn (0-1)

Site: Roosevelt Gym, Brooklyn, N.Y., 7:30

Outlook: The Bears are allowing an average of 104.8 points while scoring 71.8. Contributing to the problem are 29 turnovers per game and 42 percent shooting from the field. F Charles Feagin is averaging 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds. The Kingsmen, who lost, 77-54, to Boston College in their opener, return 4 starters from last year's 11-16 team, although only 3 start this season. C Raphael Solis (14 ppg) and G Dexter Gordon (15 ppg, 7 rpg) are the top players for Brooklyn. Swingman Brenton Birmingham, who missed the Boston College game with an injury, will play against Morgan.

Maine (2-2) at Coppin State (0-1)

Site: Coppin Center, 7:30

Outlook: Maine lost 2 of its 3 weekend starts in the San Juan Shootout, claiming seventh place when it defeated Florida Southern, 63-50. The Black Bears return 7 regulars from last year's 13-16 team, led by G Marty Higgins and G Derrick Hodge, plus 6-foot-8 Francois Bouchard, a solid rebounder. James Mazyck, in place of the suspended Larry Yarbray, will be joined in the lineup by Keith Carmichael, Mike Johnson, Darren Woods, and Galen Howard. Woods had 18 points, all in the second half, in the opening loss to Winthrop, and Carmichael hit 4 3-pointers, all in the first 5 minutes, for his 12 points.

Lehigh (2-1) at Towson State (0-2)

Site: Towson Center, 7:30

Radio: WITH (1230 AM), WTMD (89.7 FM)

Outlook: This will be a meeting of preseason conference favorites. Lehigh, with home wins against Harvard and Drexel and a road loss at Hofstra, has holdovers Chuck Penn (22.3 ppg), Dozie Mbonu (21.7 ppg, 10 rpg) and Bob Krizansky, (20.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg). The Brown and White average 90.3 points to 84 for the opposition, against Towson State's 85-95 deficit. The Tigers have G Terrance Jacobs and G Terrance Alexander combining for 36 points. F Chuck Lightening (22.0) is the top scorer. Personal fouls and foul shooting (34-for-60) are causing concern. There were a school-record 35 fouls at Colorado, and 7 players have fouled out in 2 games, compared to 11 fouling out of 30 games last year.
