Mr. Hurd, who was 44 and lived on Brevost Road in Randallstown, had a form of muscular dystrophy.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, St. Thomas Lane and Garrison Forest Road.
In the 1970s, before becoming ill, Mr. Hurd was a department manager or assistant center manager at Fair Lanes Bowling Centers in the Baltimore area and in Houston.
In 1974, he bowled 299 as a member of the Pikesville bowling league.
He crewed often on sailboats racing on the Chesapeake and in 1969 for his father in the Annapolis-to-Newport Race. In addition to sports, he was interested in coin collecting and visiting Civil War battlefields.
