ON THE WATER: Capt. Ralph Elliott's boat, Maryland Lady, will cruise the Wicomico River in Salisbury daily during December. A New Year's Eve dinner will be served from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Dec. 31. For reservations, call 543-2466.

COUNTRY CHRISTMAS: Take a step back in time at Mariner's Country Down, Sinepuxent Road, Berlin. The village, in a country setting six miles west of Ocean City, is open three weekends before Christmas each year -- today, Dec. 7-8, 14-15 from 10 a.m. until dusk. Demonstrations are given, such as weaving, pottery and stained-glass making. Furniture, antiques, jewelry, old guns and knives plus baked goods and lunch items are for sale. Each Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., a country band plays and on Sundays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., there is hymn singing. Admission is $3 for adults and free for children under 12.

CHRISTMAS ARTS AND CRAFTS: A holiday arts and crafts show will be held in the Gold Coast Mall at 115th Street Dec. 13-15. More than 25 of the Shore's top artisans will be displaying their crafts. Hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information: 524-9000.

ART TOUR: Fourteen local artists will open their studios for a tour from noon to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11. Participating artist are Jody Veader, Patrick Henry, Jim Striby, Arlene Advocat, Isobel Troutman, Jim Adcock, Ethne Graziano, Larry Pittman, Gloria Smith, Marge Engle, Barbara Hager, Virginia Burton, Marcie Wolpe and Dana Kester McCabe. Tickets are $5 each. A reception will be held at the Art League of Ocean City, 94th Street from noon to 5 p.m. that day. Call 524-9433.

FOR THE KIDS: The characters from the children's television show "Sesame Street" will present the Sesame Street Live musical, "Let's Play School," at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, Salisbury, Dec. 3-4. On Dec. 3, the show will be at 7:30 p.m. Two shows are planned for Dec. 4, 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.50 for Dec. 3 and $9.50 for adults and $8 for children on Dec. 4.

BIG BAND SOUND: Ocean City's popular Big Band Dance Series will continue Jan. 11, with a performance by the Les Elgart Orchestra from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., at the Ocean City Convention Center.
