Here's what to look for if you're traveling in the Baltimore metropolitan area this week. This list of highway projects includes only newly announced work, not continuing construction, which is extensive on several highways, including Interstate 95, U.S. 50/301 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

New projects

I-695, Inner and Outer Loop -- Beginning Tuesday and continuing through Thursday, the Inner and Outer Loops from Harford Road and Bel Air Road may have single- or double-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for structural painting.

I-695 Outer Loop, Bel Air Road to Harford Road -- On Wednesday, the Outer Loop may be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. for traffic realignment. Detour will be from Bel Air Road to Taylor Avenue to Harford Road.

Fallsway between Eager, Biddle and Chase streets is closed because of reconstruction of the Fallsway and Chase Street bridges.

Bus route changes:

The MTA has scheduled the following changes in bus routes for this week. For more information, call 539-5000; TTY for the hearing-impaired, 539-3497.

No. 23

Eastern Avenue between Mace and Woodward avenues will be closed today from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony.

Middle River service -- Eastbound via regular route to Eastern and Mace, north on Mace, east on Dorsey Avenue, south on Woodward, east on Eastern. Westbound via regular route to Eastern and Woodward, south on Woodward, west on Maryland Avenue, north on Riverside Avenue, west on Eastern.

Essex Service -- Eastbound via regular route to Eastern and Mace, north on Mace, east on Dorsey, south on Woodward, west on Maryland, north on Riverside, west on Eastern to the transit stop at Helena Avenue. No change westbound.
