Ruth Riepe Evans

Ruth Riepe Evans, 87, a member of the Roland Park Garden Club for many years and a volunteer at several Baltimore hospitals, died yesterday at a Cockeysville nursing home of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Church of the Redeemer, 5603 N. Charles St.

The daughter of the late Harry and Alice Riepe, Mrs. Evans was born and reared in a rural area of Harford County and was the valedictorian for the Edgewood High School class of 1922.

In 1936, she married Charles C.G. Evans, a partner with the law firm of Piper and Marbury, and with its predecessor firm Marbury, Miller and Evans. Mr. Evans died in 1969.

Mrs. Evans was an active volunteer with several Baltimore hospitals, including the Harriet Lane Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Church Hospital.

Mrs. Evans was an accomplished flower arranger, an avid and knowledgeable gardener and a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the Altar Guild of the Church of the Redeemer.

Survivors, all of the Baltimore area, include a son, Charles C.G. Evans Jr.; a daughter, Janet Evans Dunn; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be sent to the Church of the Redeemer in her memory.
