Second-half surge beats Loyola

LOS ANGELES. — LOS ANGELES -- Terrell Lowery had 33 points and seven assists to lead Loyola Marymount (2-1) to a 101-87 victory over Loyola (0-3) last night.

The Greyhounds, who were led by Michael Reese's 20 points, held a 43-39 halftime lead, and led, 45-41, 41 seconds into the second half. Loyola Marymount then went on a 12-0 run to take a 53-41 advantage with 16 minutes, 49 seconds left.

Loyola did not get within four points the rest of the way.

Reese, a sophomore transfer forward from Boston College, led the Greyhounds in scoring for the third straight game. He is averaging 24.3 points.

Kevin Green added 14 points for Loyola, and Kevin Anderson and Brian Pendleton each scored 12.
