Reese scores 34 Loyola falls, 90-82

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Dell Demps scored 23 points to lead Pacific to a 90-82 victory over Loyola last night in the consolation game of the Apple Invitational tournament.

Mike Reese, who led the Greyhounds (0-2) with 34 points and eight rebounds, brought Loyola to within 38-35 with 19 minutes, 46 seconds remaining. Pacific (1-1) then out-scored the Greyhounds 20-3 in the next 5:28 to gain a 20-point lead with 14:18 remaining. Demps had nine points to key the Pacific rally.

Loyola trailed 79-58 with 5:37 left before beginning a late rally that would bring the Greyhounds within six points in the game's final minute. Kevin Anderson (Loyola High) scored his only points of the game when he made a three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining to make the score 88-82.
