Jones' 3 TD passes propel Frostburg

WAYNE, N.J. -- Frostburg State quarterback Mike Jones threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, leading the Bobcats to a 46-16 upset over William Paterson in the ECAC Division III Southeast championship game.

Jones, the MVP of the game, guided the Bobcats (8-3) to their first postseason victory. The Pioneers finished the season 8-2-1.

Jones completed nine of 10 passes for 214 yards and rushed for 125 yards on nine carries. His biggest run -- a 64-yard touchdown -- came with the Bobcats ahead 11-8 and 49 seconds to play in the first half.

Less than a minute later, Jones hit split end Ariel Bell for a 36-yard touchdown to give the Bobcats a 23-8 halftime lead.

Fullback Rory McTigue, playing in his final game for Frostburg, rushed for 74 yards on 28 carries and scored two touchdowns.
