Woman, Daughter Robbed In Parking Lot

A Baltimore woman and her daughter were robbed Wednesday as they were leaving the Glen Burnie Mall by a polite gunman who asked them for their cash.

County police said the pair were in the mall parking lot putting packages in their car about 9 p.m. when they were approached by a man who said, "Excuse me, ma'am, I have a gun."

The bandit showed them a small, silver handgun and told the womanto give him the money in her purse.

She gave him $35, her daughter gave him $13, and the gunman ran across the parking lot.

Police gave no description of the robber.

LAUREL WOMAN, 26, IS RAPED IN WOODS

A 26-year-old Laurel woman was raped Wednesday in the woods off Nolpark Court.

County police said the woman was walking behind homes in the 8000 block of Nolpark Court about 10 p.m. when two men grabbed her and dragged her into the woods and raped her.

She could not give police a description of the rapists.

BREAKING INTO HOME CHARGED TO TWO MEN

County police have charged two Baltimore men with breaking into a Brooklyn Park home Monday.

Gregory Anthony Sykes, 38,of the 200 block East 22nd Street, was being held on a $10,000 bond in the County Detention Center. His companion, Garland Thomas Jones, 49, of the 2600 block Maisel Street, was being held on a $5,000 bond in the center.

Investigators said officers saw the pair Monday walking up to a home in the 5200 block of Ritchie Highway about 12:30 p.m. One of the men acted as a lookout while the other tried to open the door.

SEVERN MAN CHARGED IN PIONEER CITY FIGHT

County police have charged a Severn man with assault with in

tent to maim after a fight Wednesday night in Pioneer City.

Detectives said a fight broke out at about 8:30 between Ronald Lerussell Turner, 19, of the 1700 block Richfield Drive, and Shelton Carlos Bethel, 30, of the 1800 block Richfield Drive.

When police arrived at the fight, in the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive, Bethel had cuts over his face. He was treatedat Harbor Hospital in Baltimore and released.

Turner was taken toWestern District Station. Detectives did not know what caused the fight.

SUSPECTS SOUGHT IN TWO HOLDUPS

County police robbery detectives are looking for suspects in two unrelated armed holdups Thursday.

At 9:45 a.m., two men forced their way into a woman's home in the 400 block of Nancy Avenue in Linthicum. After she told them a man they were looking for was not there, they hit her in the head, tied her up, then took money.

She told officers the pair must have known that she had a large amount of money in the house after selling a television set.

The woman could not give a description of the men.

At 10 p.m., a gunman walked into the Parkway Shell gas station in Jessup and told the clerk to put all the money in a paper bag.

She gave the gunman money from the cash register, and he ran out of the station.

Police gave no description of the gunman.

FALL FROM DECK FATAL FOR SHADY SIDE MAN

A 44-year-old Shady Side man died Thursday morning after falling from the deck of his home.

County police said David Lee Ward, of the 5100 block of Chalk Point Road, was walking onthe top rail of the deck after an all-night party at his home.

AsWard and another man were walking on the rail, he slipped and fell head-first to the ground 17 feet below.

Homicide investigators ruled the death accidental, but confiscated drug paraphernalia and a sawed-off shotgun from the home.
