2 Businesses Liquidate

November 20, 1991

TWO COUNTY BUSINESSES — a deli in Hampstead and a carpet store in Eldersburg -- filed to liquidate under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on Nov. 8.

Kim's Deli Inc. at 2320 Hanover Pike is owned by Suk Nyo Sylvester. Records say the deli had no assets and liabilities of $2,830.

Sylvester and his lawyer, Jack D. Leonard II of Hampstead, could not be reached for comment.

Anita's Carpets, at 20 Liberty Road, is owned by Edward James Easto. Records say the company, which sold and installed carpets and flooring, had assets of $2,609 and liabilities of $15,457.

The owner could not be reached for comment.

Both businesses filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, in which a trustee is appointed to take charge of the debtor's property, except for certain exceptions allowed in the law. The trustee will sell the remaining property for the benefit of creditors, and the debt will be discharged.

The number of bankruptcies in Carroll doubled in the first six months of this year as compared with last year, numbers compiled by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Baltimore show.
