Mt. Washington Pediatric Foundation Inc., an affiliate of Mt. Washington Pediatric Health System Inc., announced that Armen Boyajian has joined the staff as executive director. Boyajian was previously the director of development at the National Center for Non-profit Boards in Washington. He has a master's degree in public policy analysis and administration from the State University of New York.

WBAL Radio has hired Leonard Roberts as a reporter/anchor in the news department. Roberts has 21 years of broadcasting experience working at stations in Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia, and York, Pa. WBAL Radio is Baltimore's 50,000-watt news/talk radio station.


Venable, Baetjer and Howard announced that David T. Stitt joined the firm as partner, and will practice at the firm's Tysons Corner, Va., office. Stitt was most recently the county attorney for Fairfax County, Va., where he supervised an office with 62 staff members and an annual budget of $3.5 million. Stitt is a graduate of Davidson College and the University of Texas School of Law.


Patrick J. Bennett has been named executive vice president of the Timonium-based Communications Electronics Inc. Bennett will serve as chief operating officer and will be responsible for the daily operations of all departments. CEI is a master distributor for General Electric and is the largest agent of Cellular One in the Greater Baltimore area. Previously Bennett was vice president, general manager of McMillen Communications. He has addressed national audiences in communications sales and marketing.

Patrick C. Kerr, president of the Patrick C. Kerr Appraisal Group Inc., has been elected a member of Valuation Network Inc., the nation's largest real estate valuation and counseling/advisory services company. Kerr, whose company is located in Timonium, has performed valuations of portfolios of two publicly traded real estate corporations and evaluated a real estate portfolio of over $200 million. Kerr will represent VNI for the state of Maryland. The network, which has 43 offices nationwide, provides real estate appraisal and counseling services to financial institutions, pension funds, corporations and other commercial real estate investors.

Bea Checket has recently been appointed national director of Women's Business Ownership, responsible for coordinating the program nationwide. WBO offers free busines counseling in the form of workshops and seminars on subjects such as finance, marketing and business plans. WBO is a program of the Service Corps of Retired and Active Executives, which is sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration. WBO is committed to women helping women in business. Checket is special events coordinator at Historic Inns of Annapolis.


James A. McCune has been appointed president of Pioneer UAV Incorporated, the joint company formed by AAI Corp. and Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. Headquartered in Hunt Valley, Pioneer was created to pursue all sales opportunities for the Pioneer Remotely Piloted Vehicle System. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, McCune previously was general manager of Bell Incosym Textron in West Lake Village, Calif. His earlier experience includes program management of weapon system programs with Rockwell International and the U.S. Air Force.
