Marine Sgt. Troy M. Smith, son of Vernon Smith of Annapolis, has reported for duty with 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan.

Smith is a1984 graduate of Old Mill Senior High School.

RUNK NOW ENSIGN

Coast Guard Ensign Brian D. Runk, son of Richard P. and Maryann Casey of Annapolis, was recently commissioned in his present rank upon graduation from Officer Candidate School at the ReserveTraining Center in Yorktown, Va.

A 1990 graduate of St. Mary's College, Runk joined the Coast Guard Reserves in August 1990.

LUCK HEADS EAST

Navy Fireman Matthew J. Luck, son of Paul E. and Charlette K. Koehler of Arnold, recently departed on a six-month Middle East deployment aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Mahan, homeported in Charleston, S.C.

Luck is a 1988 graduate of Severna Park Senior High School.

HEIM FINISHES SCHOOL

Navy Lt. j.g. Nancy L. Heim, daughter of retired Navy Cmdr. and Mrs.Robert P. Heim of Arnold, has completed the Officer Indoctrination School in Newport, R.I.

A 1987 graduate of Columbia University, Heim joined the Navy in June 1991.

NOURSE HEADS FOR JAPAN

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Kimberly A. Nourse, daughter of Gregory V. and Anne O. Nourse of Crofton, has reported for duty at Naval Security Group Activity in Misawa, Japan.

A 1990 graduate of Arundel Senior High School, Nourse joined the Navy in August 1990.

Marine Pfc. Bryan T. Thompson, son of Raymond T. Thompson of Edgewater, has completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C.

Thompson is a 1991 graduate of Lincoln High School in Michigan.

Marine Lance Cpl. Scot M. Stebbins, son of Bruce N. and Patricia P. Stebbins of Annapolis, has completed the Optical Instrument Repairer Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Stebbins joined the Marine Corps in April 1990.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Ronald D. Reece Jr., son of retired Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Ronald D. Reece Jr. of Fort Meade and Victoria L. Reece of Huber Heights, Ohio, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Reece is a 1989 graduate of Wayne High School in Huber Heights.

WOODY EARNS AWARD

Marine Lance Cpl. Carl E. Woody, a 1989 graduate of Meade Senior High School, recently received a Meritorious Mast recognition for superior performance while assigned at Marine Corps Engineer School in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Woody joinedthe Marine Corps in May 1989.
