Middle Atlantic Conference Southwest Section Men's Outlooks

November 17, 1991

Coach: Jim Walker, 13th year

Assistant coaches: Dwight Repsher, Ray Murphy, Jim Mackin

Last year's record: 12-13 overall, 5-7 in the Middle Atlantic Conference-Southwest Division

Top returnees: Seniors -- centers ScottMitchell and Joe O'Boyle, guard Dave Turco, forward Dave Yoder; juniors -- guards Brian Corrado, Steve Lubin and Mike Pinelli, forwards Dan Burrell and Rob Wehmeyer; sophomores -- forwards Chris Bower, MattMcShea and Joe Michalczyk

Top newcomers: Sophomore -- guard Mike Cibellis; freshmen -- guard Kevin Duda, forward/center Jeff Sweeney, guard/forward Darin Walls

Coach's comments: "We have a good group, with three starters and six of our first eight back. We also have some good-looking newcomers. We're going to have to be a little stronger inside with the same guys we had last year."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: The Greyhounds have a wealth of experience returning, with a total of nine seniors and juniors. They lost their guard tandem of a year ago but Walker is more concerned with the inside game. All-MAC junior Dan Burrell, who averaged 16.5 points per game and 5.6 rebounds at forward, should get even better, and co-captain Scott Mitchell will try to supply the muscle Walker is looking for inside at center. Sophomore transfer Mike Cibellis has looked good at guard. Early success could get this team on a roll and in the middle of the MAC playoff hunt.
