Middle Atlantic Conference Southwest Section Men's Outlooks

Muhlenberg Mules

November 17, 1991

Coach: Dave Medeira, fifth year

Assistant coaches: Patrick Broggan, Dave Lutz, Scott McClary

Last year's record: 12-13 overall, 6-6 in the Middle Atlantic Conference-Southwest Division

Top returnees: Senior -- forward Jim Hitchcock; junior -- guard Pat Boyle; sophomores -- forwards Joe Yahner, Jim Starr, Matt Kelly, Adam Hakki and Dennis Adams, guard Tom McDonnell

Top newcomers: Freshman -- guard Ernie Koschineg

Coach's comments: "It's a question-mark year for Muhlenberg in that we graduated three key players and have only two starters back. After those two, we have only one kid with varsity experience."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: The Mules are young. Look down the Muhlenberg rosterand you will find one senior, one junior and the rest are sophomoresand freshman. The three returning varsity players they do have are solid and will all need to contribute greatly to have a successful campaign. Senior Jim Hitchcock was an All-Southwest honorable mention selection, while sophomore forward Dennis Adams was the Southwest Rookie of the Year in 1990. Junior Pat Boyle (6.3 points per game in 1990)will play a vital role in the backcourt. Madeira also is looking fornewcomer Ernie Koschineg to immediately be an impact at guard. This is a rebuilding year for the Mules with youth on their side. How wellthey improve as the season progresses could tell a lot for the yearsto come.
