Middle Atlantic Conference Southwest Section Men's Outlooks

Western Md. Green Terrors

November 17, 1991

Coach: Nick Zoulias, second year

Assistant coaches: John Kovach, Mike Savage, Steve Pisarski

Last year's record: 12-12 overall, 3-9 in the Middle Atlantic Conference-Southwest Division.

Top returnees: Seniors -- forwards Scott Roth and Rich Vanston; juniors, guard Scott Lyon, centers Paul Pawlowski and Rob Brevetti; sophomores, guards Matt Adelman, Kenny Youngand Jim Naughton

Top newcomers: Freshmen, guards Patrick Young, Mike Eves and Tony Jenkins, forward Brian McCabe

Coach's comments: "When you lose six seniors, it's tough to replace them, and with the youth on the team and the inexperience, it leaves questions. I think that it's going to be a team that develops and grows through the season."

The Carroll County Sun's outlook: Although the Green Terrors lost six seniors, there is plenty of talent here. They may start a little slowly due to a lack of experience, but should come on as the season moves on. This team will give a different look from last year's,as the running game and defensive pressure should be more in evidence. Lyon will be vital in that respect. The point guard has speed and can keep the tempo up. Patrick Young should help here, too, as will returnee Scott Roth, who should be a force inside along with Pawlowskiand Vanston. Adelman, also a starter, should be a big part of the Green Terrors. The biggest question mark is how much those who haven't played in the past and the new people can contribute.
