Laurence Luckinbill to star as Darrow in one-man show
Laurence Luckinbill will perform in a one-man show, "Clarence Darrow," based on the life of the famed defense lawyer, at 8 p.m. Saturday as part of the Command Performance series at the University of Maryland at Baltimore's Medical School Teaching Facility, 10 S. Pine St. Admission is $8.
Mr. Luckinbill's credits range from the title role in PBS' "Lyndon," about the late President Lyndon Johnson, to the movie, "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier," in which he played Sybok. For more information call (410) 328-8035.
@ The Harmonia Sacra series of sacred chamber music will continue at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Charlestown Chapel, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, with a program titled "The Art Song and Religious Poetry." Featured will be works by Ives, Britten, Barber, Rorem, Vaughan Williams and Copland.
Harmonia Sacra, sponsored by the University of Maryland Baltimore County, showcases vocal repertoire from the Renaissance to Bach cantatas to spirituals. The Towson State University-Community Orchestra will perform works by Beethoven and Schubert at its fall concert Wednesday night at 8:15 in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall on Osler Drive. Under the direction of Cyrus Ginwala, the orchestra will perform two Beethoven romances for violin and orchestra (Opus 40 and Opus 50) along with Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony (presented with the composer's original orchestration of the scherzo).
