WESTMINSTER — Team Six students at East Middle will participate in Europe Day on Friday.
Foreign exchange students from Westminster High -- Jens Rakowski of Germany, Therrese Fasko of Switzerland, Jari Selin and JiinaTuominen of Finland and Caroline Maillet of France -- will explain the culture and customs of their native countries.
Also, Maria's Restaurant in Westminster has agreed to cater a special lunch of chicken kapama, mousaka, xoriatiki, bread and butter and rizzogalo.
Other school programs include:
* Manchester Elementary's student council is sponsoring a food collection for the Northeast Social Action Program through Nov. 26.
Students and teachers are bringing in boxed and canned food.
* Betty Smith's fifth-grade class from Robert Moton Elementary are visiting residents of the Westminster Nursing and Convalescent Center today to share student-created stories.
* Officer Rick May of the Westminster City Police will present a program about seat belt safety to Eldersburg Elementary on Friday. He has also offered programs at Carrolltowne Elementary and New Windsor Middle.
* New Windsor Middle's Student Government Association is sponsoring a Rec Afternoon on Friday that will include music, dancing, volleyball, basketball and various board games.
