Baltimore City

ARMED ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- Employees of Yem's Grocery in the 400 block of N. Gay St. told police a man came into the store and demanded cash. The robber, who had his hand stuffed in a coat pocket, claimed to have a handgun. He made off with $700 and $280 worth of food stamps, police said.

SHOOTING: Southeastern District -- Police said two patrons at a crowded Fells Point bar were shot by an unknown gunman. The shooting happened inside Rodo's Bar at 719 S. Broadway. The first victim, Charles Chalmers, of the 1200 block of S. Clinton St., was wounded in the left arm. Another man, Patrick Clune, 22, of the 6700 block of Old Waterloo Road, was hit in the lower back, police said. Both men were taken to Francis Scott Key Medical Center, where Chalmers was reported in satisfactory condition today. Clune was treated and released. No other patrons were hit by the gunfire. Police had no reason for the shootings.

LARCENY: Southeastern District -- Robert Lamontagne, of the 500 block of S. Ellwood Ave., told police that someone broke into his car while it was parked in the 1900 block of Jefferson St. and stole a coin-counting machine valued at $700.

ARMED ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- John Locklear, 53, whose address was not available, told police he was sitting in his car on Chester Street near Baltimore Street when two suspects approached him. One suspect threatened him with a handgun and demanded cash. The robbers made off with Locklear's ring and cash. Total loss was estimated to be $1,215.

BREAK-IN: Eastern District -- Officials of State Supply Co. in the 1200 block of Harford Ave. told police someone broke into their business and ransacked the place, but apparently stole nothing.

ARMED ROBBERY: Eastern District -- Sherry Washington, 26, whose address was not available, told police she was robbed of $20 in the 1500 block of E. Lanvale St. She said a man threatened her with a handgun and demanded money.

ARMED ROBBERY: Northern District -- Raymond Fincham of the 3400 block of Roland Ave. told police that four young males approached him in the 4100 block of Roland Ave. and demanded money. One assailant struck Fincham in the head with a baseball bat, knocking him to the ground. The robbers took $80 from Fincham and fled. Police said Fincham was listed in fair condition at Union Memorial Hospital.

BREAK-IN: Northern District -- Employees of the Diamond Rental Center at 5600 block of the Alameda reported that someone broke the front door lock and stole three video recorders valued at $650.

ARMED ROBBERY: Northern District -- Karen Berg of the 4400 block of Falls Bridge Drive told police that someone she knows entered her dwelling and stole her car keys and cigarettes.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 4300 block of Falls Road told police someone entered his home, possibly through an unlocked window or door, and stole a video camera and cash with a total value of $1,640.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 300 block of E. 29th St. told police someone broke into his home through a front window and stole various property worth a total of $500.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Frederick Scott, of the 2600 block of Kennedy Ave., reported that his live-in girlfriend stole his $1,350 stereo from the apartment.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Linda Thompson, of the 2900 block of Clifton Park Terrace, told police that someone she knows entered her apartment and stole a video recorder valued at $250.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- John Cofiell told police someone broke into his apartment in the 3400 block of Juneway and stole a video recorder, his wallet, a heater and a mirror, all valued at $500.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police said Fred Locust, of the 1600 block of E. Cold Spring Lane, reported that someone entered his back yard and stole a wrought-iron Victorian lawn sofa worth $450.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4200 block of Westview Road told police someone pried a lock off her basement door and stole a television, a video recorder, cash and keys, all valued at $568.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1200 block of E. Belvedere Ave. told police someone used a pry tool to break in her home through a rear window and stole property valued at $370.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1200 block of Meridene Drive told police someone entered his home through a rear door and stole jewelry valued at $3,100.

PURSE SNATCH: Northeastern District -- Florence Brown, of the 1600 block of Heathfield Road, told police two men in their 20s approached her from behind near her home and grabbed her purse containing $160. Brown was unhurt.

ARMED ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Corey Smith, of the 1700 block of Opinkett Court, told police he was robbed in the 5600 block of Frankford Ave. by two men, one armed with a silver revolver. Smith handed over $260. He was not injured.
