Applications are now being accepted for scholarship awards in the Elks National Foundations 1992 "Most Valuable Student" contest.
The 1992 schedule of awards includes 500 scholarships awarded in nationwide competition, and 1,585 scholarships each for $800 allocated on state-quota basis. Five hundred four-year scholarships are to be awardedto the highest-rated boys and girls in the 1992 competition.
Applications may be made only by students in the graduating classof a high school or its equivalent who are citizens of the United States and residents within the jurisdiction of the BPOE Elks of the USA.
Financial need, leadership and scholarship are the criteria by which applicants are judged. Experience shows that students who qualify for final consideration usually have a scholarship rating of 90 percent or better and stand in the upper 5 percent of their classes.
