March of Dimes fund-raiser called Pizza Taste-off will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Original Sports Bar. Pizza shops will compete to be named best pizza in town. Free pizza samples and Italian buffet for $1.92 for the participants. Sponsored by 92-Q radio and Continental Foods Inc. Details: 752-7990.

Kennedy Institute's Festival of Trees wants volunteers to help with this year's festival from Dec. 8 to Dec. 15 at Festival Hall. Call 550-9460.

Child Study Association of Maryland's Apron Strings Chapter is holding a Holiday Bazaar from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Garrison Forest Apartments Social Hall, Rosewood Lane in Owings Mills; benefits Sinai Pediatric Unit and Johns Hopkins Children's Center. Details: 833-0299.

Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks wants volunteers to adopt a flower bed at the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail Park to plant, water, seed and for general care. Also, volunteers are wanted for a group called Trail Blazers that will focus on visitor assistance and trail safety. Call Ranger Bruce Miller, 222-6244. Also, at Quiet Waters Park, rangers are seeking donations of used aquariums and fish tanks (20 gallons or larger, even with a crack in them) to exhibit insects, reptiles and other small animals in a nature program. Recreation Pier Center, 1715 Thames St., wants donations of canned goods and non-perishable food for Beans and Bread Soup Kitchen. Bring items to the center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The food will be presented at the center Nov. 25 at 9:45 a.m. Call 396-9177.

Jewish Vocational Service wants volunteer tutors to teach Soviet immigrants conversational English. Hours are flexible. No knowledge of Russian is necessary. Details: 466-3300.

Red Cross blood drive needs volunteer blood donors over age 17, healthy and weighing more than 110 pounds, between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Timonium United Methodist Church, Potspring and Chantry roads. The Red Cross supplies 95 percent of the blood used by more than 80 area hospitals. Call 764-4619.

Church Hospital needs volunteers to work in both patient and non-patient areas including the gift shop, library, admitting, Fairmount nursing, hospice and the Alzheimer and critical care units. For details call 522-8395.
