Angela Engles, an Ellicott City resident and senior English major atthe College of Notre Dame of Maryland, received two honors at the college's recent Honors Convocation.

Engles, a Dean's List student, was awarded the Margaret Smith Wasilifsky Award for Prose Writing andhas also been selected for "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."

BARKER VP AT HOSPITAL

George P. Barker, a Columbia resident, has been named senior vicepresident/general counsel at Howard County General Hospital.

Barker, a Princeton University and Columbia University School of Law graduate, most recently served as senior vice president for development and general counsel for the Enterprise Development Co. in Columbia.

RUBIN VP AT HOSPITAL

Charen C. Rubin has been appointed senior vice president for planning/service line development at Howard County General Hospital.

Rubin brings more than 10 years of health care experience. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Rubin received a master's degree in hospital administration form the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University.

Before joining the hospital's staff, she was the director for corporate support services forthe Marriott Corp. and was senior vice president/chief operating officer at Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster.

LANCELOTTA SCHOOL TRUSTEE

Charles P. Lancelotta has been named to the board of trustees of Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson.

Lancelotta, an Ellicott City resident, is chief of surgery at Howard County General Hospital. He graduated from Loyola College and the University of Maryland at Baltimore.

CA RECOGNIZES 5

The Columbia Association announced that Edward Cosentino, head lifeguard and assistant swim coach for Neighborhood Pools; Wendy Crystal, a nurse for CA Camps; Gail Rowe, a sales representative for Members Service Center; Walter Schlie, a parts and service writer for the Public Works Facility; and Jon Wray, manager for Hawthorn Neighborhood Pool, have been recognized for their outstanding service.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR LANSPERY

Bradford Lanspery of Ellicott City has been awarded a $500 Carroll H. Quenzel Memorial Scholarship for this academic year at Mary Washington College.

Lanspery, a junior political science major, is the son of Laura and Don Lanspery of Ellicott City.

He is a 1989 Mount Hebron High School graduate.

NUDELMAN WINS PRIZE

Scott Nudelman, a Howard High School senior, has been awarded the 1991 National Council of Teachers of Englich writing award.

The selection of a student to be honored isa result of careful evaluation by judges on the high school and college levels.

HOSFORD TO GO TO JUILLIARD

Laurie Hosford, a Glenelg High School senior and band member, was accepted into the Juilliard School of the Performing Arts Pre-College Program.

Hosford plays theFrench horn in Glenelg's concert band and bass guitar in its Jazz ensemble.
