3 Volleyball Teams Advance

Three county volleyball teams will take part in regional tournament action this week.

Liberty and North Carroll finished first and second, respectively, in the Class 2A Region II tournament, and each will play host to first-round games.

Francis Scott Key will hit the road for its first playoff game.

Fourth-seeded North Hagerstown of Washington County (7-7, with one match to play) visits Liberty (12-2) Tuesday night at 7 in one regionsemifinal, while Allegany (9-6) travels to North Carroll (8-6) for the other match, also at 7.

Francis Scott Key, 9-6 after being upset by Catoctin of Frederick County last week, dropped to third and must travel to second-seeded Boonsboro (9-5, with one match to go) in Washington County Wednesday night at 7 in the Class 1A Region II tournament.

Westminster barely missed out on a Class 4A Region II berth,finishing 9-6. The Owls were fifth, but more than 20 points behind the fourth-place team in the region, surprising Westminster.
