Baltimore City

SHOOTING: Western District -- Police reported that Denise Jennings, of the 600 block of Lucia Ave., was in the 1900 block of Vine St. yesterday afternoon when one of several men who accosted her pulled out a handgun and shot her in the upper right leg. Police said the men escaped and that Jennings was taken to Bon Secours Hospital, where she was treated and released.

ASSAULT: Western District -- Andre Chase, of the 1600 block of W. North Ave., told police that during an incident near his home Wednesday night, he was attacked by a man known to him who struck him over the head with a bottle. Police said Chase was not seriously injured and that a suspect in the case was later arrested. Police said the man was being held at the station lockup pending formal charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

ASSAULT: Western District -- Police today were seeking two men, one armed, who accosted Brian Booze in the 1600 block of W. Lexington St. early yesterday and pointed the gun at him. Police said Booze, of the 1800 block of W. Lexington St., fled and was unable to give police a reason for the threat.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Thomas Woods, of the 1500 block of N. Carey St., told police he was inside a store in the 2400 block of Reisterstown Road yesterday afternoon when he was assaulted by a woman who grabbed $16 from his hand and ran out the front door. Later, police arrested a resident of the 2500 block of Westwood Ave. in connection with the incident and were holding her at the Women's Detention Center at the Central District pending formal charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

SCHOOL BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School in the 3500 block of Hillen Road and stole property and equipment valued at nearly $1,500. Police said the break-in occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning and that entry was gained by opening a basement window.

ASSAULT: Northeastern District -- Sabina Cantey, of the 900 block of Montpelier St., reported she was in the 2700 block of the Alameda Wednesday when her former boyfriend pointed a shotgun at her. Police said Cantey was not injured and that the man was later arrested and was being held pending aggravated assault and deadly weapon charges.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Alexander Williamson, of the 600 block of Bartlett Ave., reported he was in the 2800 block of Hillen Road Wednesday night when he was accosted by an armed man who demanded his money. Police said Williamson gave nearly $20 to the gunman, who escaped on foot.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported that Emily Hoban, of the 3700 block of Delverne Ave., was getting out of her car near home Wednesday night when a man approached her from behind and stole the purse she was carrying. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at $40.

THEFT/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police arrested a 33-year-old man and were holding him at the Eastern District lockup pending charges that he entered the back yard of a home in the 4000 block of Loch Raven Blvd. and stole a lawn mower. Police said the lawn mower was valued at more than $300.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 6300 block of Laurelton Ave. reported that someone broke into her home through a basement window and stole a watch studded with diamonds. Police said the watch was valued at $300.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Chris Hartstein, of the 4200 block of Westview Road, told police she was getting out of a car near her home Wednesday evening when she was accosted by an armed man who robbed her of the purse she was carrying. Police said the gunman escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $70.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Police reported two men robbed Curran's Delly & Carryout in the 5500 block of Belair Road Wednesday night. Police said that after two men entered the deli at 8 p.m. and walked up to the counter, one of them implied he was armed and ordered an employee to open the cash register and give him the contents. Police said when the employee opened the register but did not immediately hand over the money, one of the men reached over the counter and grabbed an undisclosed sum. Police said both men then fled.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5200 block of Loch Raven Blvd. reported that property valued at more than $300 was stolen from her home after someone gained entry through a first-floor bedroom window. Police said the intruder escaped with a 21-inch TV.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Gail Simon, of the 5500 block of Walther Ave., reported she was walking near her home late Wednesday night when she was accosted by two men, one armed, who ordered her to give up the purse she was carrying. Police said Simon did so and that the men escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $80.
