CHARLES TOWN, W. VA. — CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- The West Virginia Racing Commission met with officials of Charles Town Races yesterday in an effort to prevent the possible closing of the thoroughbred track.

Charles Town Racing Ltd. president D. Keith Wagner said the track agreed to supply additional financial information to the West Virginia Racing Commission and plans to meet with the commission again in the near future.

"Today's meeting was very positive and productive, just as our meeting with the governor was last Friday, and we're optimistic that we'll be able to prevent the December closing of the track," Wagner said after the three-hour meeting. "We're looking forward to meeting with the commission again soon, not only to find solutions to our current problems, but to find ways to remain competitive in the future."
