Theater offers audio description performances at a special price

October 31, 1991

The Round House Theatre in Silver Spring is extending a special two-for-one offer for the theater's audio description performances.

Patrons who are blind or visually impaired may purchase two tickets for the price of one ($16) for any of the audio description performances.

In audio description performances, a narrator, speaking softly between the actors' lines, describes the performance, action, lights, costumes, scenery and body language through an infra-red transmitter to patrons listening through earphones.

Ten minutes before the show, the narrator gives important background information on the play, and brief descriptions on the stage setting, cast and scenes.

The Round House audio description service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the third Sunday matinee of each production during the current season.

There is no extra charge for this service but advance reservations are required. For further information and tickets, call (301) 217-3300.
