Witchy dessert has crunchy hat

SCOOPS OF VANILLA ice cream take on a spooky appearance when given a witchy disguise.

The hat is made from a chocolate cookie topped with an ice cream cone. The cone is dipped into thick chocolate syrup to "glue" it securely.

If you like, sit the ice cream on another cookie and give it candy or raisin eyes.

We used Archway-brand cookies for this recipe. Rocky-road chocolate cookies made a terrific brim while old-fashioned molasses cookies, with a scalloped-edge, made a perfect base.

These frozen treats go together very quickly, making them a perfect choice for Halloween parties.

Halloween Ice Cream

For each treat you will need:

1 scoop vanilla ice cream

1 ice cream sugar cone, frozen

1 large chocolate cookie, about 3-inches in diameter, frozen

Thick chocolate ice cream sauce

Candy corn, chocolate chips, raisins or nuts for face

Scalloped cookies for base, frozen

Scoop vanilla ice cream into round balls, shaping with hands if necessary. Work quickly and freeze ice cream balls as you make them. Let harden.

To make witches hat, dip ice cream cone into chocolate sauce and place firmly on frozen chocolate cookie. Put in freezer.

Before serving, place molasses cookies on individual paper plates. Top with frozen ice cream. Make faces using raisins, chocolate chips, nuts or Halloween candy. Spread a little additional chocolate sauce on top of ice cream and firmly place hat on head. Keep frozen until ready to eat.
