Skipjacks review

October 28, 1991|By Nestor Aparicio

The Skipjacks (5-3-1) picked up three points at the Arena over the weekend, tying Springfield 3-3 on Friday and defeating them 5-2 on Saturday. In the victory, two of the Jacks' key forwards -- John Purves and Reggie Savage -- broke two-week scoring droughts.

Craig Duncanson, who is again skating on the line with Purves and Simon Wheeldon, also had a goal and two assists as the Jacks were 2-for-7 on power-play chances.

The Jacks also got strong goaltending from Don Beaupre, who will return to the Washington Capitals lineup tomorrow night in Pittsburgh. Jim Hrivnak, who has been with the Caps since the beginning of the season, could be headed back to the Jacks.

Since the Jacks sent four players to Hampton Roads of the ECHL, they have dressed all 16 skaters -- 11 forwards and five defensemen.

Coach Robbie Laird hopes to make use of a full week off before hosting Utica this Saturday and Sunday at the Arena.
