Jason R. Hahn of Bel Air was killed Thursday when the car he was driving struck a utility pole in Churchville at 3:55 p.m., state police at Benson said.
The 17-year-old was traveling west on Churchville Road when he fell asleep. His car, a Honda CRX, left the roadway, struck an embankment and became airborne, police said. The car landed ina yard and then struck a utility pole, police said.
Hahn was flown to University Medical Center's Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore, where he died, police said.
Hahn is the 22nd person to be killed in traffic accidents in Harford County this year, according to state police statistics. At this time last year, 27 people had been killed in road accidents.
