15 Bouts At Armory

The South Atlantic Amateur Boxing Federation is sanctioning 15 boutsTuesday night at the National Guard Armory in Annapolis.

The bouts, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Annapolis, begin at 7:30 p.m.

Among the fighters on the card are Pasadena's Jose Chacon (119 pounds) and Dominick Minguzzi (139), and Millersville heavyweight BrianKimbal.

Admission is $10 for everyone 13 and over, and $5 for those 12 and under.

The next Round One Promotion's boxing card is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 14, atMichael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie.

Headlining the card is Baltimore welterweight Eddie "Speedy" Van Kirk (23-7-1), who meets Virginia native Calvin Moody (10-12) in an eight-round bout.

Also appearing is Boyor "Sugar Boy" Chew of Annapolis, who battles Joe-Zap Blyther of Laurel in a four-round super middleweight bout. Chew made his debut earlier this month at La Fontaine Bleu, losing a four-round majority decision to Aaron Thompson of Laurel.

Another fighter with local ties is junior welterweight Mark Padeletti of Baltimore, who trains at the Harding/Lowry gymnasium in Pasadena. Padeletti meets an undetermined opponent in a four-rounder.

Another fight pits Cecil Simsof Loch Raven against Tommy Lay of Washington in a six-round heavyweight bout. Sims works as a cook at Dino's Restaurant in Glen Burnie.

Also, Jasper Ray Goddard of Washington meets Chris Lucas of Rockville in a six-round welterweight fight.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with a full-course buffet dinner served until 8 p.m. The first fight is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $35 for ringside seats and $30 for all others, and are on sale at Michael's 8th Avenue (768-7901), Club 4100 in Brooklyn (789-9723), J.J.'s Tavern in Point Pleasant (761-9783) and Joy's Sub Shop in Glen Burnie (760-4708).
