The 57th running of the Montpelier Hunt Races will take place on Saturday on the estate of President James Madison at Montpelier Station, Va.
The event has been selected by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of its 20 events for November.
Gates open at 10 a.m. and prerace activities include Jack Russell terrier races, an antique and classic car show and a tailgate picnic competition.
Post time for the first of seven races is 12:30 p.m. Lunch is also available on the grounds or by reservation in the luncheon tent for $25.
An after-the-race party, at which you can dance and view the Breeder's Cup from Florida, is also open to the public for $15. General admission is $5, free for children under 12. Parking outside the race area is $5. Montpelier is on Route 20, four miles south of Orange, Va. Call (703) 672-2728.
