Chick Sails wins feature at Laurel

October 25, 1991|By Marty McGee

LAUREL -- Chick Sails surged between rivals in the late stretch to win the $22,000 feature at Laurel Race Course yesterday.

Edgar Prado, the meet's leading rider, was aboard Chick Sails, the 3-2 favorite in a field of eight turf runners. Half Gavvo finished second, one length behind, and Celtic Choice was third.

The victory was the second of the card for Prado, who has ridden 15 winners at the 12-day-old stand. One of those winners was the biggest of Prado's career: He rode Leariva to win the Budweiser International on Saturday.

Mike Luzzi is second in the jockeys standings with 12 winners, one more than Rick Wilson.
