Baltimore City

RAPE: Southern District -- Police today were seeking a man in connection with the rape of a woman early yesterday. Police said the victim and suspect were in the woman's home around 2 a.m. yesterday when he attacked her and threw her to the floor. The man, according to the victim, then cut her clothing off with a knife and raped her. After the man left the house, the woman reported the incident to police. She was later taken to Mercy Medical Center, where she was treated for minor injuries and released. Police said the woman knows the man and is expected to seek a warrant for his arrest.

ROBBERY TRY: Northwestern District -- Lasceless Shand, of the 3800 block of Barrington Road, reported he was in the 5300 block of Park Heights Ave. shortly before 2 p.m. yesterday when he was assaulted by a man he knows who attempted to strike him with a bottle. Police said that during the ensuing struggle, the man, armed with a bottle, robbed Shand of his cash and food stamps, all valued at nearly $400. Police said that Shand then grabbed the man before he could escape and recovered his property. Police said the man escaped and was being sought.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Employees of the Sun Food Market in the 2600 block of Polk St. reported that someone broke into the store between Tuesday night and yesterday morning and stole several cartons of cigarettes and cash. Police said the money and merchandise was valued at more than $1,500. Police said entry was gained by someone removing a section of plywood that was used to cover a window.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 2800 block of Fleetwood Ave. reported that someone broke into his home and stole a TV valued at $400. Police said entry was gained through an open living room window.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- John H. Singleton, of the 1700 block of Meridene Drive, reported that after placing many of his possessions in boxes so maintenance men at his apartment development could paint the rooms and install new carpeting, he arrived home to find one box missing. Singleton told police the box contained personal items valued at nearly $1,700.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Police reported a man robbed the Dunkin' Donuts shop in the 2700 block of Washington Blvd. late Tuesday night. Police said a man armed with a handgun entered the shop shortly before midnight and ordered an employee to give him money from the cash register. Police said the gunman was given an undisclosed sum and escaped on foot.

ROBBERY: Southwestern District -- Employees of Jon's grocery store in the 3200 block of Normount Ave. reported they were robbed yesterday by a man armed with a handgun. Police said the man entered the grocery store shortly after 9 a.m. and demanded money at gunpoint. Police said the man fled the store with an undisclosed sum and that no injuries were reported.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Employees of Miller Enterprise in the 4600 block of York Road reported that someone broke into the building through the front door and stole cash, a fax machine, TV, video camera, copier and a drill. Police said the value of the property was not immediately available.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 400 block of Croydon Road reported that someone broke into his home yesterday and stole property valued at more than $7,000. Police said the burglar entered through an unlocked kitchen window and stole an initialed gold engagement ring with a diamond, two gold earrings and a portable telephone.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Stacey MaGee, of the 700 block of E. 33rd St., reported she was walking in the 3200 block of St. Paul St. about 4 p.m. yesterday when she was stopped by a man who demanded her money. MaGee told police that when she informed the man that she had no money, the man robbed her of an opal ring she was wearing, a watch and a gold bracelet. Police said the value of the property was not immediately known.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a dwelling in the 2200 block of Arden Road and stole $200 in cash, several watches, a necklace and a set of gold cuff links. Police said the value of the property was not known and that entry was gained through a side kitchen window.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 400 block of Tuxedo St. reported that someone broke into his home yesterday evening while he was away and stole a 21-inch TV. Police said the property was valued at $500 and that entry was gained by forcing a door.
