ASSAULT ON OFFICER: Western District -- Police reported that during an incident in the 200 block of N. Monroe St. Monday night, Sgt. Carmine Baratta, of the Western District, was assaulted by a man. Police said Baratta was not injured and that the man, Owen Keith, of the 1800 block of W. Franklin St., was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer. Police said Keith was being held at the station lockup in lieu of $7,500 bail pending a bail review hearing today in District Court.

THEFT: Northern District -- Angela Pedraz, of the 600 block of E. 37th St., reported that someone entered the front porch of her home Monday evening and stole her purse as she was about to retrieve it. Police said the purse contained cash and property, all valued at more than $200.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Evette Brooks, 26, of the 1400 block of Morling Ave., reported she was walking in the 1400 block of Union Ave. Monday evening when she was attacked by several men who struck her with their fists and robbed her of cash and property, all valued at $300.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A resident of the 6000 block of Bellona Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through an unlocked side window and stole a 20-inch TV and a VCR. Police said the property was valued at $400.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a garage in the 4400 block of Underwood Road between Oct. 18 and yesterday and stole a vacuum cleaner valued at $200. Police said entry was gained through an unlocked door.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Sylvia Bryant, 44, of the 800 block of Exeter Hall Ave., told police she was walking near her home yesterday when she was approached from behind by two men who stole the purse she was carrying. Police said the men escaped with cash and property, all valued at nearly $80.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Bruce Jones, of the 2900 block of Harford Road, reported that while his truck was parked near his home during the weekend, someone entered the vehicle and stole a large quantity of tools and equipment. Jones told police the property was valued at $5,000.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1700 block of Gorsuch Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through a kitchen window and stole an 18-inch TV, cassette player and computer equipment. Police said the property was valued at more than $600.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Employees of the Park Heights Carryout in the 5100 block of Park Heights Ave. reported that someone broke into the business between Monday night and yesterday morning and stole more than $300 in cash. Police said entry was gained by forcing a back door.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 4200 block of Penhurst Ave. reported that someone broke into her home yesterday by forcing a back door and stole several pieces of jewelry and cash. Police said the property was valued at $60.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Officials of L&L Properties in the 800 block of N. Calvert St. reported that someone broke into a dwelling the firm owns in the 2300 block of Anoka Ave. between Saturday and yesterday and stole property valued at more than $400. Police said entry was gained through a window.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Police reported that someone entered a dwelling in the 6000 block of Cross Country Blvd. yesterday afternoon and stole property valued at nearly $400. Police said entry was gained through an unlocked window.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Employees of Earth Engineering Sciences Inc., in the 3400 block of Carlins Park Drive, reported that property of unknown value was stolen from the business by someone who broke in yesterday.

THEFT: Northwestern District -- Police reported a man was trying on a jacket at Vogue Fashions in Mondawmin Mall yesterday when he bolted for the front door and escaped into the mall. Police said the jacket was valued at more than $400.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Karen Crosby, of the 4400 block of Bowleys Lane, reported she was getting money from an automatic teller machine in the 3400 block of Belair Road around 7:30 p.m. yesterday when a man approached her from behind, pressed a handgun to her side, and robbed her of nearly $200.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1200 block of Walker Ave. reported that someone broke into his home Monday after breaking a pane of glass out of a kitchen door and stole property valued at more than $1,600. Police said the burglar escaped with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and five watches.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Steven Karas, of the 3400 block of Pinewood Ave., reported that someone removed parts from his 1977 Kawasaki motorcycle Monday while the vehicle was parked in the 4000 block of Fleetwood Ave. Police said the parts were valued at $300.
