UMBC's 8-game win streak ends, 6-2
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech (7-7) outscored the University of Maryland Baltimore County (10-3-1), 5-1, in the second half en route to a 6-2 victory yesterday, ending the Retrievers' eight-game winning streak.
Bobby Wagner and Jay Pierorazio scored for UMBC.
Lang Wedemeyer scored twice to lead Virginia Tech.
Towson 3, C. Connecticut 1
Senior Ed McCue scored two goals, including the go-ahead goal, to lead host Towson State (9-3-2, 2-1-1) over Central Connecticut (3-7-5, 0-3-2) in an East Coast Conference game.
McCue broke a 1-1 tie with 11 minutes, 53 seconds remaining. Junior Sean Fischbeck added an insurance goal for the Tigers with 9:32 remaining on an indirect kick.
After a scoreless first half, McCue gave Towson State a 1-0 lead with 31:03 left on an indirect kick from junior Brian Bichy. Central Connecticut tied the score :40 later when junior Thomas Svensson scored a goal off a pass from freshman Richard Flaim.
Sophomore goalie Rich Pellegrini made one save for the Tigers, who ended a two-game winless streak.
Boston U. 3, Loyola 1
Steven Walker, Tim Horton and Emesih Okereke each score a goal as No. 13 Boston University (11-3) ended Loyola's %o three-game winning streak.
Trailing, 3-0, Mark Hopper scored a goal for Loyola (7-6-1) with 5:02 remaining.
Goals by Walker and Horton gave Boston a 2-0 halftime lead, and Okereke's goal made it 3-0 in the second half.
Navy 3, Colgate 1
ANNAPOLIS
Navy posted its third straight victory, downing Colgate, 3-1, in a Patriot League game.
The Midshipmen (10-4, 4-1) were staked to a 2-0 first-half lead when Brad Dunham scored off a pass from Cliff Carpenter and Seth Walters headed in a pass from Jono Halverson.
But Colgate answered just five minutes into the second half as Mike Pollack scored on a penalty kick.
Navy put the game away at the 82-minute mark when Jerry Dearie headed the ball past Red Raider goalie Keith Snipes. Dearie was assisted by Walters.
W. Maryland 3, St. Mary's 1
ST. MARY'S CITY
Brian Redding scored two goals to lead Western Maryland (8-5) over St. Mary's (5-6-1).
Western Maryland's Ron Chasney broke a 1-1 tie with a goal with 4:22 remaining in the game. Redding added an insurance goal with :10 left.
Redding's goal with 18:44 left in the first half gave Western Maryland a 1-0 lead, before St. Mary's tied the game at 1-1 on James Rebholz's goal 15:31 before halftime.
Frostburg 1, Salisbury 0
FROSTBURG
Mark Urban's goal 3:30 into the second half, off a pass from Kregg Hanowell, lifted Frostburg State over Salisbury State (8-5).
The win improved Frostburg State's record to 14-0, tying the
school record for wins in a season.
Goldey Beacom 3, Wash'ton 1
CHESTERTOWN
Diego Vlasquez, Ed Dixon and Chuck Kilby each scored a goal to lead Goldey Beacom (9-3-1) over Washington College (0-10-1).

Dickinson women 1, W.Md. 0
Leigh Tyler's overtime goal led Dickinson in a Middle Atlantic Conference-Western Division game. Tyler scored on a crossing pass from Susanne James 8:48 into the overtime period to put Dickinson ahead.
