At Macarthur, Computers For Maryland Schools Drive Under Way

A new student council has been elected at Odenton Elementary.

Therepresentatives and alternates are Thane Gardner, Albert Burkhead, Melissa George, Brandy Mitchell, Kevin Dyer, Jenny Ellick, Rochelle Ballard, Jessica Morgan, Christa Ogle, Jessica Goodwin, David Wilson, Tony Reyes, Danita Hardy, Ashley Brooks and Chris Dyer.

* The next CAC meeting is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 24 in the PTA room.Speaker Joanne Redmond is working on a computer-awareness program for parents. For more information, call the school at 674-7093.


MacArthur Middle School is collecting Giant Food register tapes for the Computers for Maryland Schools promotion. This activity runs until Feb. 29. Should the school meet its goal, the computers will be used by students for instructional purposes. Register tapes may be sent in with students or sent to the school, at 3033 Rockenbach Road, FortMeade, 20755.


The Imaginations Majorette and Drum Corps willsponsor a Turkey Shoot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at 980 Patuxent Road in Odenton. The rain date will be Nov. 17. Ammunition

will be supplied for $2.50 per shot for 12-gauge shotguns only. Refreshments will be available.

The George Michael Redskin Report will be filmed from 7 to 9 tonight at Kaufmann'sTavern in Gambrills. All are welcome to participate in this event. The taped show will be televised Oct. 19 on Washington's Channel 4. Information: 923-2005.


Special Halloween stories will be told at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Odenton Branch Library for children ages 2 to 6. Children are invited to wear their Halloween costume.Information: 222-6227.

* From 7 to 7:45 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Crofton Library, preschool and elementary-age children are invited to a presentation of the Disney film, "Legend of Sleepy Hollow," followed byscary stories and poems. Children may wear their costumes. Information: 222-7915.


The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a "Meet Your Chamber Night" from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23, at the Cambridge Commons Recreation Center, 2100 Blue Water Blvd. in Odenton.

This event, sponsored by the Halle Cos., will include a new-member briefing, small-business forum and business connection, providing the public an opportunity to meet new members, hear the latest chamber activities, participate in a small-business forum and promote business all in one evening.

Prospective members are welcome to attend. The cost is $5 with advance reservations, $8 at the door, $10 for non-members. Call the chamber office at 672-3422 by Oct. 21 to make reservations.


The O'Malley Senior Center will celebrate Oktoberfest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 24, at the center, 1275 Odenton Road. Traditional German food and music will be the main attraction.
