The Apartment Builders and Owners Council of the Home Builders Association of Maryland puts out a brochure called "Best in Apartment Living" each year.
The apartments, reviewed by visiting experts from the Virginia Apartment Management Association, are judged in two main categories:
* Best community -- based on curb appeal, exterior appearance, community amenities and leasing presentation.
* Unit excellence -- judged on approach to entrance, floor plan, marketing presentation and apartment features.
