Skipjacks review

October 14, 1991|By Nestor Aparicio

* WEEKEND SUMMARY: The Jacks (3-1) split a pair of weekend games, defeating St. John's 5-4 in overtime Friday night and losing to Adirondack in Glens Falls, N.Y., 4-3 Saturday, their first defeat of the season.

The power-play unit of John Purves, Simon Wheeldon and Craig Duncanson thrived in the games, as Duncanson scored a pair of goals Friday (including the game-winner) and Purves scored a pair in each game for a team-leading seven goals in four games. All told, the team was 5-for-19 on the power play.

The Jacks have five days of rest before Maine comes in for a pair of games on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.). Left wings Randy Pearce and Dave Morrissette have been reassigned to Hampton Roads of the ECHL.
