October 13, 1991|By -- Lem Satterfield

Rodney Rawlinson's fifth goal of the season, with 1 minute, 27 seconds left in the second overtime, gave visiting and No. 13 Meade a 1-0 victory over No. 3 Severna Park yesterday, ending the Falcons' regular-season winning streak at 35.

Meade (7-1, 1-0) was also the last Anne Arundel County team to beat the Falcons (7-1, 0-1) during the regular season in 1987. Both teams play in the county's Friendship Division.

Meade's first-year coach Mike Dey used a five-man defensive backfield led by sweeper Bryan Mitchell. Eric Washington, the Mustangs' top scorer with six goals and four assists, played one of two stopper positions and hawked Severna Park striker Brian Peterson, who entered the game tied for the school record for career goals (40).
