Air National Guard Airman Sean J. Murphy has graduated from Air Force Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Murphy, the son of Joseph and Gail Murphy of Woodbine, is a 1989 Glenelg High School graduate.


Army 1st Lt. Stephen T. Caro has been awarded the Bronze Star.

It was awarded for exceptionally meritorious service in support of U.S. forces and the multi-national coalition coalition during operation Desert Storm. He is a rifle platoon leader with the 327th Infantry

Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Oak Grove, Ky.

Caro, is the son of Dana and Eunice Caro of Ellicott City, graduated from West Point in 1989.


Army Pvt. Karen L. Neal, a multi-channel systems operator, has arrived for duty at Carl Schurz Kaserne, Germany.

Neal is the daughter of James and Margaret Goode of Eldersburg.

Navy 1st Lt. Mary K. Merashoff, daughter of William and Keiko Merashoff of Woodbine, reported for duty at Naval Security Group Activity, Edzell, Scotland.

The 1978 South Carroll High School and 1988 University of Florida graduate joined the Navy in May 1983.

Army Pvt. Walter E. Jason, a food-service specialist, has arrived for duty at Fort Benning, Ga.

Jason, the son of Christine Jason of Sykesville, is a 1985 graduate of Liberty High School.


Sgt. Todd M. Phipps has been decorated withthe Army Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to those individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service performed. Phipps is a counterintelligence agent at Redstone Arsenal,Huntsville, Ala.

Phipps is the son of Karen Votzke of Mount Airy.
